New car owners who are looking to keep their vehicle in top condition have been advised of the threat speed bumps can pose to its suspension.
The traffic control measures have caused an increase in damage to vehicle suspensions since they were first introduced, according to mail order specialists Carparts Direct.
One of the most common parts to break - the coil springs - could end up costing unsecured Car Loans customers and other vehicle owners more than £50 to fix.
However, by taking proactive measures to safeguard their vehicles, new and used car owners can avoid any unwanted damage to suspension joints, shock absorbers or wishbones.
Carrying out the simple DIY task of adding rubbers to the suspension coil springs takes just 20 minutes and could help avoid costly damage to the vehicle in future.
The firm has also produced an online video designed to help motorists look for damaged suspension parts and explains how to rectify the problem.
Drivers have also been advised to watch out for the winter weather this week, with organisations such as Protyre issuing tips to help deal with icy roads and heavy snowfall.
