Car loans customers warned against winter weather

Unsecured Car Loans applicants across much of the UK woke up to see the roads covered with snow this morning, prompting experts to issue a road safety warning.

The Highways Agency advises drivers to make sure they are prepared before venturing out on the roads, listing a number of tips to reduce the risk of accidents.

With snow showers likely to become even more widespread overnight, drivers are urged to leave extra room to slow down and stop in the tricky conditions.

Despite extensive work by the Highways Agency's national fleet of winter salt spreaders to grit the roads, car loans customers are still advised to slow down and avoid any sharp manoeuvres.

New and used car owners should also ensure their vehicle is packed with provisions including warm clothes, food and water in case they become stranded, the agency said.

The Association of British Insurers also responded to the winter weather, reminding drivers that the cost of breakdowns or vehicles that fail to start will not be covered by their car insurance policies.
