Car loan customers battling rising fuel bills may be interested in a "telling milestone" reached by a car sharing firm.
People approved Car Finance and looking to save travel costs could join Liftshare, which says it recently recruited its 250,000th member.
The firm also said it had signed up thousands of new members in June alone as motorists look for ways of avoiding rising fuel costs.
Liftshare managing director Ali Calbburn said: "As people save money, help the environment and form great friendships through sharing their journeys, our old reputation as a land where your car is your castle is being turned on its head."
The firm gave the example of one Liftshare user who said he had halved his commuting bill through the service and compared his savings to a pay rise of about £1,700.
Since it was founded in 1997 the firm says its network has led to an annual saving of 17,356 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
