The finance you need The car you want

Car News

Feb 15 2008

Sir Alan Sugar swapped the world of business finance for the world of Car Finance this week when he met apprentices at the Rolls Royce factory in Goodwood.

The business brain, who is a member of the government's Business Council, visited the plant to see how the luxury car manufacturer was training its future workforce.

He was given a tour of the plant, which included wood, leather, paint and assembly departments, to see how the apprentices were learning the skills needed to build cars.

The Rolls Royce programme takes on youngsters aged 16-24 and provides them with the opportunity to train at the plant for up to four years.

Following his visit Sir Alan said: "The apprentices are being taught skills that I thought were a thing of the past, it is very encouraging and impressive to see it in action."

In January Rolls Royce announced record sales results for 2007 of 1010 cars. This was a 25 per cent increase on 2006 sales.
