Highways Agency warning for all drivers
Jan 7 2009All drivers, including those who took out secured loans to purchase their vehicles and people who opted to buy used cars, have been warned about how the weather will affect the roads this week.
The Highways Agency called on motorists such as unsecured Car Loans customers to be careful when they are behind the wheel this week because low temperatures could cause dangerous conditions.
In a statement, the agency claimed it will do what it can to deploy service vehicles that can treat roads in response to the various regional conditions.
Derek Turner, director of traffic operations at the Highways Agency, remarked: "We are currently experiencing a sustained period of exceptionally low temperatures."
He added that it is "important to drive with care" even in places where the roads have been treated with salt, as the substance may be more ineffective than usual due to the extreme coldness.
Used car owners have received a number of warnings in the last fortnight regarding the reliability of their vehicles in the cold weather.
