Much-loved television show Top Gear is to get a permanent home at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, it has been revealed.
BBC Worldwide has announced the development of a major new exhibition, to be called the World of Top Gear, at the museum, with the show's famous hangar being replicated.
The event will see a wide variety of items and memorabilia from the show put on display, including a number of vehicles driven by the shows presenters, James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
Among the exhibits expected to be a major attraction will be the remnants of the amphibious cars developed by the shows' hosts for one of their challenges.
Adam Waddell, managing director of Top Gear at BBC Worldwide, said: "We're always looking at innovative ways for fans to enjoy the Top Gear brand. This exhibition is a world-class first for us, giving car enthusiasts a terrific immersive experience at one of UK motoring's most historic and best-loved homes."
"The Top Gear brand is a natural partner for the National Motor Museum and shows how Beaulieu is as interested in modern motoring as it is famous for preserving motoring history," added the National Motor Museum's commercial director, Stephen Munn.
A recent study of funeral directors by the Co-Op found that the Top Gear theme tune is one of a number of favourites played at funerals.
The survey found an increasing penchant to replace traditional hymns with television theme tunes, with the Only Fools and Horses tune proving the most popular.
