Singing sensation Jay Kay may be searching for a new vehicle on Car Finance after his rare Ferrari Enzo fell victim to vandalism.
The Jamiroquai frontman who was staying in Suffolk last week found that around £30,000 worth of damage had been caused to his vehicle by chef Aaron Billington after the 21-year-old took offence at the singer's comments during a social event.
At the hearing in Lowestoft magistrates court, defence solicitor Damien Moore said that that during the social event, his client had found some of the singer's comments "deeply offensive".
"And he says that, because of the comments that were being made, he felt that there was an element of provocation which sparked him, essentially, into a fit of anger," he added.
Jay Kay, 39, said he was disappointed by the incident, adding that it "says something about the British psyche".
Speaking previously about his car, the musician has said: "It suits my personality - dark and a bit nasty."
The case is set to move to Ipswich crown court at a later date.
