Mazda Offers Huge Discount With Facebook Deals

In what is lauded as one of the first major social media campaigns by a UK car retail group, Mazda has partnered with Facebook Deals to offer a 20% discount on selected car models from 1st January 2011. The cars involved are all Mazda MX-5s. Consumers also have a chance to win a Mazda MX-5 Miyako as part of the promotion. The announcement will no doubt be welcomed by those involved in the UK car finance market.



The deals will be on offer at five Mazda dealerships in the UK, between 1st January and 31st March 2011. Selected dealers in the following cities will take part in the Facebook promotion: Glasgow, Essex, Greater Manchester, Twickenham (Middlesex) and Devon.



To qualify for the 20% discount, customers must check in at one of the participating dealers on Facebook, register, and obtain a deal voucher, which must then be presented to the appropriate dealer. This can also be accomplished via smart phone, which of course can also be used to apply for UK car finance.



This Facebook deal is probably the first of many steps to bringing mass marketing to social media. With a membership base of more than 500 million, Facebook certainly offers many unexplored opportunities to marketers. Those involved in the UK car finance industry will no doubt take serious note of this new development. Facebook membership in the UK alone already stands at 26 million and is still growing daily.
