Wilfried Steffen, the current Chief Executive of Mercedes Benz UK will soon leave the company to head for Stuttgart, Germany, where he will manage Daimler's division for business innovation.
He will be replaced on the 1st April by Marcus Breitschwerdt, who at the moment is CEO and President of Mercedes Benz in Canada.
Breitschwerdt has been with Mercedes Benz since 1991 and has filled a number of senior positions at the company. Mainly involved with sales, marketing and planning, he was at one stage the Director of Marketing Strategy for the company.
He was appointed in his current position eight years ago. Since his appointment both sales and market share of Mercedes in Canada have grown by more than 100%.
Wilfried Steffen has been in charge of Mercedes Benz UK for eight years. During his term as CEO the market share of the company's car division increased to a record 3.7% of UK car loan owners, while its commercial vehicle branch managed to capture a record 17.4% market share.
The Mercedes Benz brand and the company's retail network now receive consistently high ratings in UK car loan customer surveys. In fact the company has recently jumped to the number one position in the Superbrands Consumer Survey.
Steffen had the following to say: "It has been a rewarding eight years and I am proud to have worked with such a fantastic group of people, both in MBUK and across our retail network."
Many UK car loan owners are also loyal Mercedes Benz fans and they will no doubt be sad to see Wilfried Steffen leave the country.
