Mercedes has unveiled its amazing S500 Plug-in Hybrid. Mercedes claims that its S500 Plug-in Hybrid is the first three litre limousine, offering 88.3mpg. The S500 Plug-in Hybrid emits just 74g/km of CO2 emissions. The Mercedes S500 Plug-in Hybrid can run 19 miles on its electric power, and will require just an hour to get recharged. Mercedes has used it environmentally-friendly BlueEfficiency technology, including start/stop and direct injection engine technology. Mercedes has not announced when the car will come into production. People who are eager to buy this car will have to wait to arrange car finance for it. The electric components weigh less than 22kgs and the electric motor drives the rear wheels.

A clutch system uncouples the petrol engine when the electric motor is providing power.
