As most auto loan buyers probably know by now, the new Mercedes SLK will be available on showroom floors by June 2011. Various experts in the used car market industry are already predicting that this car will become extremely popular and hence enjoy an excellent resale value.
According to experts, the main reason is the new SLK's stunning and aggressive styling - something that is very important in the roadster market. The fact that the car now has a closer association with the SLS supercar will further strengthen its appeal in the used car auto loan market. Mercedes has of course also added AMG branding to the new SLK, which will make the car even more appealing.
After analysing the new SLK range, CAP predicts that the SLK 200 AMG Sport will retain 49.5% of its original value after three years, in comparison to the 39% of the current range.
Jeff Knight, Editor of CAP Monitor, says that the car has undergone a radical image change that will hugely strengthen demand for the car in the used auto loan market. He continued "Historically the SLK has suffered something of an image problem, sometimes unkindly described as a car for the more well-heeled hairdresser."
According to Knight, the new car has a brand new, much more aggressive look, which will solve its image problem and make sure it appeals to a wider range of buyers. He added that the interior design of the new SLK is borrowed heavily from the sporty SLS, which most buyers will find very appealing.
