The 74bhp original 2.0L diesel engine is pulled out and a 2.2L engine, which delivers 201bhp, is installed. This engine makes the car reach sixty two miles per hour in 6.2 seconds.
The original car took 11.9 seconds longer. Imagine overtaking a modern Mercedes C Class, leaving the driver astonished at this old car zipping past him. The original Mercedes 190D is lighter than its C Class cousin by over 350kgs, which is why it can generate more pace. Its fuel consumption with the new engine increases to 57.6mpg, which is much more than the 38.7mpg it managed on its original engine.
