BMW CEO has made it clear that the company will focus on building the compact front-wheel drive vehicle to present stiff competition to AUDI A1. This vehicle would be assembled on the latest architecture that is being researched and developed by the company.
This platform would be compatible for both systems – the front as well as the four-wheel drive and would most probably be shared by MINI and BMW. The architecture would therefore be modular and made such that it is suitable for different models as well as brands. Both the companies have been pretty successful in selling their previous models on attractive Car Loans in the past and would hope to continue with this success.
The companies are not going to ignore the large model as well as the sub-compact categories and will continue to focus on them, while launching more MINI and BMW models in the smaller segment.
BMW is looking to move out of its rear-wheel drive specialty and is hoping to launch more front-wheel drive small vehicles for city demand in the coming future. The MINI vehicles on the other hand are mostly all front-wheel and therefore the platform sharing could be beneficial for both companies.
