Car finance news: all-electric MINI to go on show
Oct 23 2008Drivers considering applying for a Car Loans quote to purchase an electrically-powered vehicle may wish to hold out a while longer for the MINI E to become available.
The BMW Group is to present the new all-electric model to the world's media at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month, with 500 of the vehicles then being delivered to private and corporate customers across the US states of California, New York and New Jersey.
And with zero-emissions driving as well as economic advantages, the MINI E could be an ideal choice for Car Finance customers looking to lower their tax rates as the government considers plans to increase charges on higher-emission vehicles.
Similar in style to the standard MINI, the electric version will initially be available as a two-seater, with the rear seats reserved for the lithium-ion battery.
All 500 models - which will be produced at the company's Ox FORD plant - will feature the same metallic paintwork, and the battery levels will be displayed in percentage figures inside the vehicle.
In 1999, on its 40th birthday, the original MINI was named European Car of the Century at an awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
