Goodwood celebrates Mini with the stars
Apr 29 2009Goodwood will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MINI this year with a range of events aimed at promoting the car.
Minis of all shapes and sizes will be on display at its celebrated 2009 Motor Sport events, running in July and September.
A host of motor racing stars will also be climbing into Minis in order to show off the car's ability on the track.
"Expect to see some famous ex-works tarmac-burning Minis in action on the Festival of Speed hillclimb, with John Rhodes and Richard Longman scheduled to excite Festival goers in their Coopers and 1275 GTs," said the organisers.
"A number of ex-works BMC rally team Minis are also expected to be grappling with Goodwood’s challenging Rally Stage at the Festival, with front-wheel-drive legends such as Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen demonstrating their abilities between the trees."
Goodwood's 2009 Festival of Speed runs from July 3rd to 5th and some of the world's top drivers will be on display at the event.
Among the stars at this year's festival will be former Formula One world champion Damon Hill, who will be joined by current champion Lewis Hamilton.
