Mini Announces High Performance Diesel

Mini has announced what is to be their most powerful diesel car, the Mini Cooper SD. The new 2 litre engine will develop a full 143bhp and it will be available in the complete range of body types including the hatch, the convertible, the Countryman and the Clubman. In what is no doubt good news for car finance users, prices are competitive and will vary between £18,750 for the hatch and £23,190 for the Countryman ALL4.

The new Mini boasts an impressive top speed of 135 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 acceleration figure of 8.1 seconds. Despite this, its emissions are low at 114g/km and fuel consumption is an impressive 65.7 mpg (according to figures provided by the manufacturer).

Other impressive features of the new Mini are auto start/stop, electric power steering, brake energy generation and shift point display.  The new SD also boasts a new front apron with an enlarged air intake. Readers who make use of car finance will no doubt be happy that the bonnet will still feature the air scoop they are by now familiar with.

At the back the new Mini sports twin exhaust pipes, which are located at the centre of the rear apron. There is also a roof spoiler at the rear of the car. As has now become tradition in the Cooper S, the SD motif is proudly displayed on the side indicator surrounds.

Car finance users will also appreciate the fact that from April 2011 a sports pack will be available for owners who want to customise and enhance its interior and exterior styling. Each pack will include a front as well as a rear apron with black detailing and a honeycomb mesh for the main air intake.
