The most popular hybrid car in the world has just received a number of upgrades. Changes to the 2012 Toyota Prius include more equipment, a redesigned front end and improved comfort levels. Emissions of 89g/km and fuel consumption of 72.4 miles per gallon remain the same.
The majority of design changes have taken place on the bottom part of the front end. The bumper has been redesigned, making the car 20mm longer than before. The front grille is bigger than before and the car now has clear-lens headlights. The LED daytime running lights were moved to below the indicators and the fog lights have been built into the lower grille.
Equipment levels have been enhanced with a touch screen, which is now standard on all T4 and T3 models. The top of the range T-Spirit models will also have what Toyota calls the Go Plus system, which adds voice recognition, satellite navigation and the ability to use Google local search utilising your phone’s 3G connection. Other new equipment on the T-Spirit model includes LED headlights with dusk sensors, water repellent glass and an electro-chromatic rear view mirror.
The 2012 Prius will be available in no less than eight colours, including two new ones: Cabernet Red and Dark Blue.
Prepare yourself for an auto finance package of at least £21,350 for the privilege of driving the entry level T3 model. The T4 sells for £23,080 and the T-Spirit will set you back £24,620. The 2012 Prius will go on sale from March this year.
