Daihatsu Deca Deca – A Shoebox on Wheels

Nov 22 2009
Daihatsu displayed their amazing Deca Deca at the Tokyo Motor Show. The boxy shaped exterior houses a very sparse interior. There are two rear van type doors and a rear sliding door on one side. One rear wall has a 36" monitor, a work table and two seats that swivel and fold. The front passenger can be rotated to face backward and create a mini conference atmosphere. The Deca Deca is like an office on wheels and generated a lot of interest at the motor show. Fold the rear seats and the Deca Deca becomes a working van or can be used to transport anything from dirt bikes to surfboards.

Powered by a three cylinder 1.3L engine it´s going to be a slow transporter with a full load. It would be too optimistic to look for a car loan right now as production and launch dates have not been announced as yet by Daihatsu. Without the expensive hardware on board the Daihatsu Deca Deca may be a cheap to buy and run transporter. We will just have to wait to see when Daihatsu puts the Deca Deca into production. Now that they have displayed a working model, the production model cannot be far behind.
