Ford Motor Company has just showcased its 2013 Ford Mondeo at the Detroit Motor Show. The car will be sold as the Ford Fusion in the USA. In the UK car buyers will be able to sign up for an auto loan on the new Ford before the end of March 2012.
The Mondeo’s redesign forms part of Ford’s plans to globalise its whole vehicle range. At present there are significant differences between North American and European models – both in design and under the bonnet. The company wants to change all this.
Ford has not published much information about the technical specifications of the new car, except that the U.S. model will be available with either a plug-in hybrid or petrol engine. The 2013 model will also be fitted with a large array of technological gadgets – something that Ford has become renowned for. This includes lane keeping tech systems, adaptive cruise control, voice activated controls and parking assist.
According to Ford they have significantly increased the quality of the Mondeo. The company promises that the new model will be highly engaging to drive.
The Detroit Auto Show is one of the biggest and most widely anticipated motoring events of the industry’s year. The world’s major car manufactures usually use this forum to announce new models and to provide previews of concept cars.
At the same time as unveiling the Mondeo, Ford is also providing visitors with the opportunity to experience their state-of-the-art interactive show called “The Living Connected Experience,” which provides a look into the future of infotainment systems that might soon be available in Ford production models.
