Jaguar’s foray into the hybrid segment

Jun 26 2010 The movement for a cleaner and greener environment is really making its impact. Many auto makers have already made a good start by launching environmentally friendly models and Jaguar too is now proposing to launch their own hybrid model by the year 2013.
Given the popularity and respectability of this brand, many individuals are sure to buy the hybrid variety through the use of car credit and other car finance products. The Jaguar hybrid is expected to have a 3 liter V6 engine of the turbo diesel kind and will also feature a eight speed transmission gear box. Needless to say, this will be automatic.
Though the initial lot of hybrid cars would be of the XJ type, engineers are confident that barring the X model, others in the Jaguar range would be able to make use of this hybrid system and bring about a real change in emissions standards as well as better fuel efficiency.
Jaguar would also be going in for better quality hybrids such as equipping the models with the lithium-ion battery and electric motor so that in the event of the batteries getting discharged, the engine can automatically turn on and supply the required energy for the electric motor.
