The number of vans registered during November increased by 4.5 per cent on the previous year, as van finance became easier to acquire.
According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), 28,741 new vans were registered as being on the UK's roads during the month, which is a significant increase on November 2006's statistics.
As a result, the number of new vans to grace the roads of the UK this year stands at 336,978, up 2.7 per cent on last year. Van loans for medium-sized vehicles have been used wisely, with that sector reporting a 33.1 per cent rise in 2007 sales compared to the previous year.
Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive, said: "Demand for light commercial vehicles in November remained equally strong, with year-on-year growth of 4.5 per cent supported by robust demand for heavy vans. This sustained growth across all commercial vehicles suggests that 2008 will be a good year for the industry."
The SMMT represents the views of the motor industry as a whole.
