Mexican firm launches new sports cars
Mexican firm launches new sports cars
Jul 17 2008
Mexican car manufacturer MXT launched its new model, the Mastretta MXT, at this year's British International Motor Show.
Individuals interested in taking out a car loan might like to hear that the MXT will be Mexico's first homegrown commercial car. It weighs only 900kg and will cost approximately £32,999 on the road.
The car's 2.0-litre turbocharged Duratec engine will be capable of accelerating the vehicle from 0 to 60mph in under five seconds and its 293mm ventilated ABS braking system will stop the car just as fast.
Due to go into full production next year, the company expects to have at least 80 Mastretta MXT's on the road by the end of 2009.
"We needed to create a great car because Mexico has no tradition of sophisticated sports car manufacturing," Dan Mastretta, the vehicle's designer, noted.
Mastretta is a design company that was founded in Mexico City in 1987.
Its previous projects have included work with city officials for the design of urban transport vehicles like buses, as well as urban equipment and some forms of packaging.
