Formula 1 racing legend Michael Schumacher tested out the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano that has been equipped with HGTE handling unit. The celebrity used the opportunity to really push this vehicle with the engine at its front to its maximum at the Ferrari test course in Pilota.
The HGTE unit comprises of a much stiffer suspension placed lower than usual, the latest tyre compounds that offer much better gripping of the road and an enhanced magnetic suspension with modified damper settings. The exhaust has also been suitably modified and what sets this HGTE package apart from your normal assembly line car is the number of very fine elegant touches such as the very forceful nose, the grille at the front, proprietary twenty inch rim wheels and great use of wavy black within the car cabin.
This sophisticated and superior performance version of V12 laps up the Fiorano test course in a blistering effort taking just 1:26 and that is a mere 1.5 seconds short of the F- 430 Scuderia. But it needs to be remembered that the F-430 Scuderia is a factory set and tuned special vehicle for the test track and is liable to carry that edge.
