An expert believes in five years "many millions" of hybrid cars will appear, meaning Car Finance customers will have more green vehicles to choose from.
Publisher of the Clean Green Cars website Jay Nagley said he believed vehicles like the TOYOTA Prius were just "the tip of the iceberg", in news likely to be welcomed by eco-minded car finance customers.
According to Toyota sales of the Prius recently passed the one million mark since the car was launched.
Mr Nagley said: "In four or five years' time there will be a new generation of hybrids which will be much more efficient."
A combination of a combustion engine and an electric motor powers hybrid vehicles, which produce less CO2 than normal cars.
The car is the highest scoring individual model in the 2008 UK Customer Satisfaction Index study, retaining the position it was awarded last year.
Clean Green Cars aims to give consumers clear easy to understand advice about using cars and choosing new models in a more environmentally friendly way.
