Motorists who have financed the purchase of their latest vehicle with Car Credit might want to make sure they avoid any insurance claims that may arise if rear passengers are not wearing a seatbelt.
Figures from the government recently showed that since it became compulsory for drivers and front SEAT passengers to buckle up, some 60,000 lives have been saved.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists has suggested, however, that take-up rates of seatbelts by rear passengers has not been impressive since the law changed in 1991 making belting up in the back mandatory.
It urges drivers to make checking that everyone has their belt on part of their cockpit drill.
The motoring body suggests: "If your passengers (of any age) argue that it is their choice whether or not to wear the seat belt, you will find that your counter argument - that it's your choice whether or not to start the car! - is pretty effective too."
