Government transport bosses have launched a new safety campaign aimed at ensuring Car Finance customers do not pass on bad driving habits to their children.
The Department for Transport has devised a series of workshops after research revealed 54 per cent of parents, including car loan customers, admit to unsafe driving in front of their children.
Schools across England will get a visit from the scheme, which involves tips and advice for parents on how to address road safety issues with their children.
Road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick said: "Simply telling our children about how to use our roads safely is not enough - parents must practise what they preach or their sons and daughters will slip into dangerous habits."
The Child's Eye View: Practical Parenting in Road Safety, part of the government's THINK! campaign, will involve giant props of cars and zebra crossings.
Government figures from 2006 show more than 25,500 children aged up to 15 were injured in road accidents in the UK, of whom 169 were killed and 3,125 were seriously injured.
The THINK! campaign is designed to improve the country's road safety standards through offering advice and driving legislative reform.
