Motorists in one Yorkshire city could find that they face traffic calming measures if they fail to reduce their speed.
Police in Brad FORD have teamed up with council representatives to conduct a consultation on how best to deal with the problem of speeding motorists - who could potentially still have to pay their Car Finance even if they write off their motor.
"The matter has been brought to my attention by councillor Jeanette Sunderland. She has informed me that some of those seen speeding are in fact local residents," commented Sergeant Ged Sharp.
"This is a residential area and to hear that they're responsible for putting their friends and neighbours at risk of death or injury by speeding is amazing."
Among the solutions being considered is the introduction of speed humps and road closures.
However, the number of speeding tickets issued in West Yorkshire has fallen by a quarter over the past year, the Telegraph and Argus reports.
