Suzuki will be displaying two versions of their electrified Swift cars at the Tokyo motor show. One is a plug in hybrid and the other is a fuel cell version. The hybrid Swift is driven by an electric motor and there is a small gasoline engine to charge the batteries. Like other hybrids the petrol engine does not provide power to the car. The Suzuki Swift hybrid is designed as a small city car that will drive 15 miles a day. However the range of the Swift Hybrid is not limited by its battery size as the gas engine can either recharge the batteries or provide power to the electric motor. The range and fuel economy has yet to be announced by Suzuki.
But it´s expected to be impressive. The conventional Suzuki Swift is a decent small sized city car and the hybrid will generate a lot of interest. Suzuki has not announced production plans for the hybrid. Therefore interested buyers don’t need to rush to arrange Car Finance as yet. Once the prices and sale dates are announced and reviews start coming in, buyers´ interest will be generated. The other and more advanced hybrid will have electricity generated from hydrogen fuel cells and will not have a petrol engine.
