Although the used car market is experiencing a downturn, one expert has suggested that it is likely to recover.

The British Car Auctions (BCA) Used Car Market Report revealed that annual used car volumes fell by 384,000 units last year.

However, motorists still spent £33.3 billion on used cars in 2007, which was the second-highest figure ever recorded.

Tony Gannon, communications director at BCA, said current market conditions ought to be viewed within a "broader context".

He claimed the market can "fluctuate but has underlying strength" and has "bounced back" from similar problems before, those conducting a Used Car Search may be interested to learn.

"There is a deep-seated resilience in the used car market even when times are hard," Mr Gannon explained.

BCA centres in the UK, which include Manchester, Nottingham, Preston and Walsall, conduct more than 100 auctions a week.

It also has a number of auction houses in Europe.
