Car Finance customers in the Wantage area of Ox FORD may be pleased to read that car crime has dropped in their locale.
Figures have been released by Thames Valley Police highlighting a reduction in vehicles crime of more than half in the past year.
According to the Oxford Mail, between April 1st 2007 and January 15th 2008, incidents in which a vehicle was interfered with fell by 65 per cent to 13 - down from a previous 38.
Meanwhile, thefts of vehicles were down by 47 per cent at 42 incidents.
Sarah Merritt, Crime reduction officer for Wantage, claimed the figures were in part due to the level of commitment by officers to their jobs.
"It can be attributed to some hard work and dedicated patrols by local officers. Our priority crime team have been targeting known offenders," she stated.
The Bicester Advertiser has reported that vehicle crime in Oxford was cut by almost half during 2003.
