Nearly half of young Car Finance customers admit to driving early in the morning after a night drinking alcohol, a new report has found.
A total of 45 per cent of drivers under the age of 30 admit to the practice, which could mean they are driving while over the legal alcohol limit, the research by Brake and Green Flag concluded.
The findings suggested that alcohol can stay in the bloodstream for 13 hours, meaning that some Car Credit customers may be over the limit until the next afternoon. Convictions for drink driving offences could impact on future car finance agreements.
Abi Clark, spokesperson for Green Flag, said: "It's essential that drivers stay fully alert at all times when on the road. At this time of year, it can be easy to get carried away in the festivities. We're not saying don't go out and have fun, but to put it simply, if you drink, you shouldn't drive - on the night itself and early the next day."
Convictions for drink driving include the penalties of a suspended driving license, a fine or a prison sentence.
