Car finance holders 'could become safer by going green'
Feb 13 2009Fleet drivers, potentially including those with Car Finance deals, might become safer behind the wheel by adopting sustainable driving methods.
Road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick has voiced his support for companies taking onboard such measures to reduce their CO2 emissions while also becoming safer motorists.
"There is a clear link between the outcomes of increases in sustainable travel and safety," he said at the recent Fleet Safety Forum, held by road safety charity Brake.
"Journeys transferred to more sustainable modes have a far lower chance of experiencing crashes."
During the event, presentations were made by firms such as Johnson and Johnson about fleet safety on an international level and BT, who spoke about their Safe Driver of the Year competition.
Car finance customers who want to become safer drivers could approach their firm about taking part in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' National Safe Driving Awards scheme, which provides incentives for fleet drivers to be careful to avoid accidents.
