Car loans customers turning to hybrids
Oct 22 2008An increasing number of customers taking out Car Loans quotes are turning to alternatively-fuelled cars, according to the latest BCA Pulse report.
The figures revealed that one in twenty buyers are planning to scour the market for hybrid electric/petrol cars such as the TOYOTA Prius, with most looking to purchase used models.
Meanwhile, almost a third of motorists revealed that they would consider cars with lower CO2 emissions ratings when buying as a result of the proposed changes in Vehicle Excise Duty (VED).
The BCA's Simon Henstock suggested that, as well as concerns over VED, high petrol pump prices and on-going economic woes had combined to "kick-start" private buyers' interest in alternatively-fuelled cars.
Earlier this week, John Lewis, director general of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), said the scale of the government's planned increase in VED for existing higher emissions cars was "unfair".
