Car Loans customers are being warned that they must take care to ensure their vehicles are prepared as the winter weather begins to set in.
Owners of new and used cars must check their vehicle is in good condition in order to ensure the safety of both themselves and other road users, the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has warned.
Although he admitted that modern cars "are much better prepared" to deal with changing weather conditions, BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive Graham Trudgill advised that car loans customers should still check "key elements" to keep their car in order.
These included monitoring antifreeze levels, windscreen wipers and tyre condition, as well as driving sensibly in the difficult conditions.
"Very wet or icy roads conditions regularly cause incidents and that is when people need to slow down and take precautions," he added.
According to research by esure car insurance, the winter months are likely to see almost a third more accidents occurring on the road than during the summer, with one in five drivers having suffered an accident while driving in icy conditions.
