Environmentally-conscious unsecured car loan customers may be interested in the findings of a new study conducted by Chevrolet which highlighted the potential savings on offer to motorists if they change driving technique.
According to the manufacturer, drivers can save more than £300 a year by taking steps such as avoiding heavy braking and sharp acceleration.
The company drove two identical Aveo 1.4-litre five-door hatchbacks along a 411-mile route that included motorways, heavy traffic and steep gradients.
When drive normally, the vehicle managed 42.54 miles per gallon (mpg), compared with 57.89mpg when a "methodical eco-friendly" approach was taken.
Over the course of a year and 10,000 miles, Car Finance customers could save as much as £312 on petrol, the company asserted.
Les Turton, spokesman for Chevrolet, said drivers can "maximise their savings" by taking a "fuel economy-aware" approach.
"Our study proves that by applying anticipation, awareness and gentle acceleration and braking to their driving, Chevrolet owners can get even better value for money out of their motoring," he remarked.
Unsecured Car Loans customers may remember a similar test conducted by the Energy Saving Trust recently that found smarter driving techniques can have environmental, financial and safety benefits.
