Motorists - including Car Finance customers - are wasting an average of £2.2 million worth of fuel every day because they have not checked tyre pressures, new research suggests.
As the cold weather sets in for the winter, many tyres lose pressure as the temperatures decrease, meaning more fuel is consumed than is necessary, a study by Cooper Tire Europe found.
Car Credit and van loans customers may be interested to know that, according to the research, less than five per cent of vehicles on the UK's roads have the correct tyre pressures which, combined with rising fuel prices, mean many motorists could be out of pocket this winter.
The company recommends van finance customers check tyre pressures at least once a month, especially through the colder months.
Research released by Cooper Tire in 2006 showed that skidding accidents double during the winter months.
