The finance you need The car you want

Car Loans customers in Humberside have potentially been included in a warning to motorists to use immobilisers and steering locks in a bid to keep criminals away from their vehicles this festive season.

After a raft of thefts from cars in the East Riding region, Humberside Police is warning drivers, possibly including Car Finance customers, to keep valuables out of the sight of any potential thieves over the Christmas period.

The force suggests motorists, which may include credit customers, have responded to similar warnings in the past, after recording a 37 per cent reduction in car crimes over the past year. Car loans and future car finance deals may be affected by vehicle theft.

Sergeant Paul Green, from Humberside Police's Safer Communities, said: "It only takes a minute to remove your valuables and this could be the difference between you becoming a victim of crime or not."

Last year, Humberside's biggest city Hull was named as the car crime capital of the UK, with motorists 126.1 per cent more likely to have their car stolen in the city than the national average.
