The finance you need The car you want

The vast majority of motorists - potentially including Car Finance customers - avoid foreign lorry drivers using UK roads for fear of being side-swiped, new research has found.

A study by Motorpoint suggests that four in every five motorists think that foreign truck drivers are unpredictable and avoid their vehicles when travelling on busy roads.

Further research has found that European lorry drivers are three times more likely to be involved in an accident on busy roads than their UK counterparts. Car Loans and Car Credit deals could be affected as a result of a crash.

Motorpoint managing director David Shelton said: "The seriousness of this issue for the driving public is reflected in the numbers who took part in the poll with some 5,500 drivers making their views known - that's a rate of more than a thousand a day."

Recent figures from Motorpoint suggested that high fuel prices are forcing many motorists to limit the number of journeys they do.
