Axon Automotive is the latest company to jump onto the hybrid cars bandwagon. The recently unveiled hybrid from Axon emits just 50g/km CO2 and will be on sale by 2011. The hybrid Axon is a coupe that runs mostly on electric power with a petrol engine kicking in for a longer driving range. The batteries get recharged on the move and from a conventional socket. The Axon can also run on bio-ethanol. The Axon coupe is made mostly from carbon fibre that can be recycled.
The interior is done in recycled pinstripes and jeans. The price and production dates have not been announced as yet. But this is not a one off concept model.
The Axon will be produced in five small plants in the UK, Spain, Holland, Ireland and France. The Axon will be tax free and should be a handy runabout. The consumption will also make it a fuel sipper. There is no point in rushing of for a car loan right now, as you don’t know the price of the car. The Axon will target people who are looking for a cheap to run and maintain car and are strong believers in recycling. We hope this new venture supported by UK Technology Board meets with success.
