Police in North Yorkshire are targeting motorists who use mobile phones while driving, attempting to alert them to the tragic consequences their actions can have.
In association with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, police in York are working with local car dealerships to ensure car drivers - potentially including those who purchase their vehicle using Car Finance - are aware of the risks.
Throughout March, the collaboration will see Days of Action carried out, where dedicated patrol teams will specifically target those drivers who are using phones while behind the wheel.
"I find it astonishing that despite its introduction over four years ago, the increase in fixed penalty fines and widespread publicity, drivers still fail to obey the law," said Acting Inspector John Wilkinson, the person leading the operation as part of the Think! campaign.
Local car dealerships will be handing out the government's Dying to Take the Call? leaflet with every car they sell, through Car Loans or otherwise.
The Think! mobile phones campaign was launched on February 1st, the road safety website has said.
