Nearly two million speeding tickets were issued to Car Loans customers during 2005, triple the number given out ten years ago, new government statistics show.
According to the Daily Telegraph, 1.92 million £60 fines were issued during that year, compared to just over 700,000 in 1997.
The number of speed cameras introduced during that period has risen dramatically to over 6,000 throughout England and Wales. Revenues raised from the penalties for the government now stands at £115.2 million. Speeding fines are likely to impede any future Car Credit or Car Finance deals.
Neil Greig, of the IAM Motoring Trust, an independent road safety organisation, told the publication: "I don't think enough has been done to convince people of the need for these cameras. When you look at the huge number of people being caught like this, the message isn't getting through."
Speed cameras are more widely used in the UK and Canada than elsewhere in the world.
