The finance you need The car you want

Car News

Feb 20 2008

Motorists who have invested in Car Finance to purchase their vehicle but who risk damage through speeding could be among those motorists facing a crackdown in Staffordshire.

Drivers who speed through the village of Clifton Campville are set to face action from local residents, who have teamed up with police and a local councillor to make their village safe.

Six residents have been trained as community speed watch volunteers and taught how to use a handheld radar gun to record the speeds and number plates of vehicles, while residents of neighbouring villages are also set to follow suit, the Birmingham Mail reports.

"Whilst police do their best it is impractical to think they can deal with the problem in so many different places all the time," commented Lichfield rural east's county councillor Matthew Ellis.

"The Community Speed Watch initiative gives local people the chance to make a real difference in their area."

Meanwhile, Hambleton in North Yorkshire has started to deploy speed matrix signs to deter drivers from travelling too fast.
