Young motorists, potentially including those with Car Finance arrangements, could be more likely to crack their windscreens this winter than their older counterparts.
According to findings by car care firm Comma, some 300,000 UK drivers aged between 19 and 21 could find themselves with broken windscreens after trying to melt ice with boiling water.
When questioned, only 40 per cent of drivers in this age group said that they would be using an ice scraper this winter, compared with 71 per cent of motorists in their 50s.
Comma spokesman Mike Bewsey said: "In cold weather, everyone needs to take a bit of time to clear the window. A scraper should be an essential item in the car, along with a bit of de-icer for when the ice is really stubborn."
Meanwhile, the Surrey Advertiser reports that repair firm Kwik-Fit has found that one in three drivers - potentially including car finance customers - has suffered a chipped windscreen in the past.
