'Car finance customers contributed' to Nissan green achievement
'Car finance customers contributed' to Nissan green achievement
Apr 24 2008
NISSAN has revealed sales of its cars equipped with emission-cutting technology have topped one million.
The Japanese company said it had seen 1,088,000 of its vehicles with continuously variable transmission (CVT) sold in 2007 many of which may have been bought with Car Loans.
A Nissan mid-term environmental plan had originally set the company the ambitious target, announced as hit by delighted executives.
A company statement read: 'Nissan was one of the first automakers to recognise the benefits of CVT, such as smooth and responsive driving performance.'
Besides driving benefits the firm says CVT results in cleaner emissions for cars with the technology, which could be of interest to car loan customers after a greener car.
Nissan added world sales of its CVT-equipped vehicles stood at 250,000 in 2004, meaning the figure has quadrupled in three years.
Car loan customers who purchased Nissans are likely to have helped the company achieve its eco-sensitive target.
The first CVT Nissan vehicles arrived in the early 1990s and the firm has since refined and rolled out the technology.
The Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Altima are two models featuring CVT technology.
