First Spy Shots of Nissan GT-R Published

Aug 17 2011 First Spy Shots of Nissan GT-R Published Image

The motoring press has published the first spy shots of the new SpecM version of Nissan’s GT-R.  A cursory glance might give you the impression that the car is very similar to the standard model.  If you look under the skin and inside the cabin, however, you will find a car with a host of advanced features aimed at making it more luxurious.

Keep in mind that the aim with the SpecM was not speed – this is the prerogative of the SpecV mode released earlier.  In the case of the SpecM the focus was on comfort.  This is why the suspension has been revised to provide greater comfort over long distances.  The seats are also more comfortable and the interior layout is decidedly less sporty but at the same time more upmarket.  The top quality sound and multimedia system bears witness to this fact.

The only difference we can spot from the outside is that the new model has different front and rear bumpers.

The car will be powered by the same engine we saw in the SpecV model – a 3.8-litre V6 monster machine.  This means that the extra comfort and luxury will take away nothing in terms of performance – the car will still offer blistering speed with a 0 to 60 acceleration time of less than four seconds.

For those of you who want to start looking around for a suitable car finance package, so far we have little news.  What we can say, however, is that the SpecV sells for about £115,000 in Japan.  Expect the SpecM to carry a somewhat higher price tag.
