The Geneva Motor Show is in the news again today, with Nissan announcing that it will be revealing a new B-segment car going by the name of Invitation at the show.
The car has been developed to fit in nicely between the Juke and the Micra. Far from being merely a concept, Nissan has already confirmed that the new model will be launched in the UK next year. So if you have already decided that your next car loan will be used to buy a Nissan, it might be worthwhile waiting until 2013.
It is another one of those cars that, despite its compact external dimensions, fits a lot into a small space. The design of the Invitation has obviously been influenced by the Juke and the Micra. It is a streamlined vehicle that utilises an aerodynamic design to achieve maximum fuel economy.
The Deputy Division General Manager of Product Planning and Product Strategy at Nissan, Francois Bancon, said “The name we have given to this concept is self-explanatory. It is designed to be inviting thanks to its sensuous exterior design and generous and comfortable interior space, cleverly packaged within compact overall dimensions.”
The Invitation combines advanced engine technology with lightweight design and it will most likely have CO2 emission figures of below 100g/km. We can expect the diesel 1.2 DIG-S engine we first saw in the Micra to be one of the engine options. In the Micra it delivers CO2 emission levels of only 99g/km.
