There are several good reasons to take care of that used car you just bought. One of the most obvious is that you want to enjoy reliable transportation for at least long enough to justify the purchase price. At the same time, there is a good chance that you would like to be able to sell the car outright or at least trade it in for an equitable amount when the time comes to replace it. Fortunately, there are a few basics you can use to keep your used car in proper operating condition and have the chance to get where you are going and earn a decent price when you sell it down the road.
An essential part of taking care of any used car is to set up a reasonable maintenance schedule and follow through with that maintenance without fail. It does not matter if you do the work yourself or have it done at a repair shop, or a combination of the two. The important thing is to make sure the tyres are rotated, all fluids and filters are changed, and all belts and other moving parts are inspected and replaced as and when necessary. Regular maintenance, including engine tune-ups, will go a long way toward keeping the used car in the best possible condition.
Along with maintenance, make sure to address the appearance of your used car. Use the proper cleaning agents to wash and wax the exterior as well as clean the interior of the vehicle. Should any stains or tears in the upholstery appear, have them cleaned and repaired immediately. A car that looks good while also running well is much more likely to attract the attention of potential buyers when you are ready to sell the car, and will certainly help with the trade-in value at a dealership.
