Peugeot's commercial vehicles have been chosen by an energy firm to boost its efforts to reduce carbon emissions a move which may be of interest to drivers looking for environmentally-friendly cars for sale.
The French firm is supplying EDF Energy with 87 new Partner Origin vans for its fleet of vehicles in the south-west of England.
Each boasts a 1.6-litre HDi 90 diesel engine and is intended to support EDF's decision to reduce emissions from transport activities by 20 per cent by 2012.
"To help meet our strict transport emissions policy, we will be replacing this entire fleet with the PEUGEOT Partner Origin. We will immediately benefit from an 18% reduction in CO2 emissions in this region," Chris Pascall, head of transport for EDF Energy, said.
Peugeot recently reported that it had sold 827 Partner vans in June, representing a 76 per cent increase on the figure recorded a year earlier, car loan customers may be interested to learn.
Overall, sales of the company's light commercial vehicles increased by 65 per cent in June.
