Peugeot Plans to Launch Hybrid in China

Car loan buyers are looking forward to this year's Shanghai Motor Show, which promises to hold quite a few surprises.  One of them will no doubt be the world premiere of Peugeot's petrol-hybrid concept crossover.

The people behind the development of the new Peugeot are the China Tech Centre in Shanghai.  The hybrid will rub shoulders with another new Peugeot - the 508, which will be launched at the same time.  Peugeot is obviously eyeing the lucrative Chinese car loan market as the company plans to launch at least one new car every year in China for the foreseeable future.

Peugeot says the launch of the 508 and the new hybrid car in the Chinese market is important to the company for a variety of reasons.

In the first place, one out of every two 508s that will be sold during the next year will be in China.  The company hopes to sell at least 65,000 of these cars in the Chinese market during the next 12 months.  Secondly, it forms part of Peugeot's worldwide sales strategy.  The company has already launched the Peugeot 3008 in China and the RCZ will be released on the 20th May.

The Chinese economy is still showing strong growth, despite the recession in many Western countries.  Peugeot, therefore, has high expectations of this market.  It hopes to sell no less than 200,000 cars in the Chinese car loan market during the next year and to maintain strong growth for the next few years.
