Car manufacturer PEUGEOT has unveiled the latest 407 model, which it claims produces fewer CO2 emissions than previous versions.
As well as improved equipment such as parking assistance, Peugeot Connect (RNEG) navigation and Connect Media navigation systems, the new model has also undergone a major engine recalibration allowing it to cut its emissions without losing any performance.
The company stated: "In addition to its elegant and attractive appearance, still distinctive in its segment, the continuity of its residual value, its durability and its competitive overall operating costs, the 407 continues to be acclaimed for its excellent road holding and its undiminished ability to combine active safety and driving enjoyment with a high level of comfort and convenience."
The 407's focus on cutting emissions could help make it an attractive choice as a greater number of consumers look to access more energy efficient vehicles through the government's scrappage scheme.
People with used cars may be tempted to trade in their older, more polluting models for a new Peugeot 407 because of its improved green credentials.
Chancellor Alistair Darling announced plans in the Budget to launch a scrappage scheme in the UK this May that will allow owners of cars over ten years old to trade them in for newer models that are more environmentally-friendly.
